WAR, Drama Gallery NYC, 2023. Each artist was given the same broad brief, to create something in response to their idea of ‘war’. My paintings were inspired by the war on girls, referencing hentai, the internet, revenge porn, agalmatophilia (cum dolls) as well as cultural phenomenons like Die Antwoord, Blingee, Pinterest and Second Life addicts. I wanted to create soft images that felt warm and comfy but at the same time had a twistedness to them. Like a hug that’s a bit too tight.
