BABIES, Home Street Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand, 2021. This series focused on memories, the ones that we can recall, the ones we’re reminded of from scrolling through our camera roll and the ones that never really happened. I was interested in trying to capture the unceremonious nature of a phone photo, noticing how often these are less casual and more contrived than we like to admit. The imagery is faithful to original sourced photos but has been partly altered with fantasy elements. Speaking on what we choose to recall and how it feeds into the narrative of our lives. There’s an innocence to this; the coming of age story we make up in our heads.
